About
What is the Writing Center?
The Writing Center is an instructional service that provides writing assistance for students, faculty, and staff. We offer both face-to-face and online consultations, as well as a collection of online resources for writers and educators.
The Writing Center is administered through the College of Arts and Sciences and, along with the Learning Center, is one of several units in the Center for Student Success. The Writing Center originated and developed in the care of the English department and maintains its affiliation with the department through collaborative projects. You can find out more about the Writing Center by reading our FAQ.
What is the Writing Center’s mission?
The Writing Center shares in the University’s mission to serve as a center for scholarship, creative endeavor, and public service. We work with students, faculty, and staff on any writing project at any point in the writing process, helping them to become more skillful, flexible writers. Through campus conversations about academic writing and outreach activities, we promote successful writing for all members of our community.
