I offer Individual sessions for writers who want to build their confidence, flexibility, and independence in their work. For the past six years, I have taught university-level courses in writing, the last three at an Ivy League school. I have over ten years of experience coaching creative and critical writing projects at all levels–from the application essay to the dissertation and book manuscript. My qualifications include an MFA in nonfiction and poetry from the University of Pittsburgh, a certificate in Rhetoric and Composition, and a BA in English from Davidson College. I specialize in coaching scientists and research physicians through the challenging process of writing journal articles, NIH grants, IRB protocols and white papers that clearly “tell a story.” For 7 years, I have conducted coaching sessions and workshops for both native and ESL speakers of English at research centers such as NIH, Harvard, Sloan Kettering, UNC, Duke and the University of Pennsylvania. I have coached researchers through the process of writing grants that won NIH funding and articles published in a wide variety of peer-reviewed journals. I also have worked with grad students on dissertations. As Assistant Course Director of Argumentation and Research at UC Irvine, I taught students how to write clear and persuasive essays and proposals.
